The industrialisation era of the yesteryear.
MINI Plant Oxford celebrates 100 years of car-making this March, against a background of rising production, increased investment and continuing expansion. The first car built at the factory, a Bullnose Morris Oxford, emerged on 28 March 1913 and has been followed by cars from a wide range of famous British brands – and one Japanese – including MG, Wolseley, Riley, Austin, Austin Healey, Mini, Vanden Plas, Princess, Triumph, Rover, Sterling and Honda, besides founding marque Morris and MINI. The Pressed Steel Company subsidiary occupying the same Cowley complex also built bodyshells for Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, MG, Standard-Triumph, Ford and Hillman, as well as tooling dies for Alfa Romeo. Hooray!
Considering the advancements in automatic gearbox technology (the double clutch, for example), BMW M division is proud to announce that they are going to offer manual transmissions for their M cars as long as there is demand, even though from a production aspect it is better to offer these models solely with the double clutch transmission. In an interview with Autocar earlier, BMW M Global head, Friedrich Nitschke, said that, “Our philosophy in regards to steering feel and precision is that rear-wheel drive is the best solution. xDrive brings an 80-90kg weight penalty and the M differential is the industry’s best rear-drive set-up.”
Let’s hope that the stick lives forever!

The E89, is the second generation of the Z4.
In the US, BMW issued a recall over faulty positive battery cable connectors and terminals on the fuse box that may fail over time, causing loss of electrical power to the vehicle. Sudden loss of electrical power to the vehicle may cause the vehicle to unexpectedly stall, thus increasing likelihood of crashing. The affected models are:
- E82, E88; 1 series coupe and convertible respectively, manufactured between 2008 and 2012. Both 128i and 135i are affected.
- E90, E91, E92, E93; 3 series sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible respectively, manufactured between 2007 and 2011. Both 328i and 335i are affected.
- E89; Z4, manufactured between 2009 and 2011.

A rather handsome car, don’t you think?
BMW have once again delved further into filling the tiniest of niches in their lineup with the new BMW M6 Gran Coupe, which is slated to take on the Mercedez-Benz CLS63 and the Audi S7. The M6 Gran Coupe fits snugly between the M6 Coupe and the M5. How necessary is that, you ask? Honestly we couldn’t be bothered about necessities; a new M powered Beemer is always something to look forward to.

Social media junkie (ahem, Vernon) would like this very much.
This accessory is designed for optimal operation in any vehicle of the BMW Group, that is equipped with a telephone docking station. When placed in the docking station, the BMW Car Hotspot LTE connects to the internet using the vehicle aerial. This means that reception cannot be impaired for example by tinted windows, while also preventing radiation inside the vehicle. The LTE modem has a battery built in, so that it can be used also outside the vehicle. It only requires 30 minutes to fully charge the battery. At a small sum of money, you can get the adapter and mini USB cable and thus, you can use it with any other car, of course minus the external aerial function. Seems like Vernon will be very happy with this. Of course, he would be happier with a BMW.
Full press release is after the jump.

Aesthetic wise, it is gorgeous!
The E92/3 maybe the last generation of BMW 3 series coupe and convertible, if BMW is going to get more confusing with its naming convention. Enter the BMW 4 series Concept Coupe – which BMW said, it doesn’t just mark the start of a new cycle, but it also represents the zenith of a development curve. The “4″ stands for greater sportiness, greater exclusivity and even clearer differentiation from the BMW 3 Series range. The wheelbase (2,810 mm) is 50 millimetres longer than that of the existing 3 Series Coupe. At 1,826 mm wide, the BMW Concept 4 Series Coupe is 44 mm broader than its predecessor, its roof line is 16 mm lower (1,362 mm) and it is also longer (4,641 mm) – all of which makes for exceptionally dynamic proportions.
The front gets full-LED headlights and the design displays a clear link with the BMW 3 Series family – F30. The side silhouette, the shadowed surface above the rear wheel shrinks significantly below the swage line accentuates the muscular contours around the rear wheels, emphasising the car’s dynamic flair and hallmark BMW rear-wheel drive.
No word mentioned about its engine yet. At the mean time, check out the press release after the jump for precise details of how the 4 series coupe looks like. Or better, photos of rear and the dash.
