VW Passat for RM53,000 off? You bet. It’s VW’s ‘Drop Everything’ sale

If you’re in the market for a new car, this may tickle your fancy. Volkswagen Malaysia is having a flash sale (yes, ala Lazada, almost) themed ‘Drop Everything’ covering their 2014-2015 stockpile of its CKD Polo (hatch); Jetta and Passat sedans.

‘Unbelievable’ and ‘WTF’ would not be an overstatement for the steep discounts offered for the cars.

The Passat sedan (we reviewed the B7 here) can be had for just RM115,888 – a huge RM53,000 off its RRP of RM173,888.

Meanwhile, its C-segment Jetta, previously retailing at RM134,888 is now a jaw-dropping RM88,888. That’s additional RM46,000 for mods (*snigger).

The Polo hatch scurries in at an affordable RM69,888, a full RM20,000 off its RRP of RM89,888.

The discounted vehicles are ones locally-assembled at VW’s plant in Pekan, Pahang.

The Passat is powered by the reliable turbocharged 1.8 TSI lump that pushes out 158bhp and 250Nm torque, mated to a 7-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG). This takes the two-tonne car from 0-100km/h in a commendable 8.5 seconds.

On the other hand, the Jetta comes with a 1.4-litre twincharger TSI engine, delivering 158bhp and 240Nm, mated to the same 7-speed DSG gearbox.

Perhaps a good thing, the Polo hatch dumps the TSI/DSG combo for a 103bhp and 153Nm 1.6-litre MPI lump. This is mated to a conventional 6-speed automatic gearbox with Tiptronic.

Note that promotions are valid while stocks last.
