Lamborghini has confirmed suspicions that the recently revealed Aventador Superveloce(pictured…..repeatedly) will be made available in Roadster form, much like the “ordinary” Aventador. The Italian brand has also gone one step further by confirming that the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster SV will make its public appearance at the Pebble Beach Concours D’elegance next month.
The Superveloce models are lighter, more powerful versions of the regular Lamborghini Aventador. Production of the Aventador Roadster will be limited to just 500 examples, 100 less than the coupé variant. It’s understood that all 650 planned examples of the Superveloce coupé have already been sold. The Roadster is expected to sell equally fast, despite the impractical roof installation system designed by the Italians.
Naturally, Lamborghini has yet to reveal any performance figures for the Roadster, but it is safe to assume the Roadster will feature the exact configuration of the coupé. It will be powered by a 6.5-litre V12 engine producing 740hp at a screaming 8400rpm. Once more, ower will be sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed automated manual, single clutch transmission.
Despite a likely increase in weight over the coupé’s 1525kg, the Aventador Superveloce Roadster is expected to be able to match the coupé’s 0-100km/h sprint time of 2.8sec, although the same is unlikely to be said for the coupé’s 349km/h top speed. Much like its fixed-roof Superveloce sibling, the Roadster will feature a stripped-out cabin, which incorporates carbon fibre fabric for the seats and parts of the interior trim, as well as a healthy dose of Alcantara and leather.
