All New Ford Ranger Is Even More Efficient

The imminent launch of the all new Ford Ranger in Malaysia this year will lead onslaught into ute or truck market segment. Mitsubishi already launched its new Triton, with Toyota and Nissan slated to launch the all new Hilux and Navara respectively this year as well.

For the Malaysian market, 2 diesel engine choices will be made available. The proven 3.2 litre Duratorq 5 cylinder TDCi diesel engine gets an updated exhaust gas recirculation system which helps to improve fuel efficiency, while still putting out 147 kW and 470 Nm of torque.

The best seller – 2.2 litre Duratorq 4 cylinder TDCi engine gets power bump from 110 kW and 375 Nm of torque to 118 kW and 385 Nm of torque.

With the growing refinement of ute, the new Ford Ranger also gets Automatic Start/Stop Technology and electric power-assisted steering (EPAS), which further improves fuel economy by 3.5 % and 3% respectively. The usage of EPAS makes the maneuverability of the truck even easier, making it even more considerable for customers looking for an upgrade from different car segment.

We certainly can’t wait for the new Ranger to be launched here in Malaysia (slated September / October) ! At the mean time, you can find more details about the Wildtrak, and more pictures of the Ranger here and here.

About Jack Lee

Jack Lee is an unqualified petrol head (some say, to be one, you have to own an Alfa Romeo) who is disappointed with cars which are getting more and more electronics and the lack of interest in cars shown by today's youths in general. He owns an almost 20 year car from Germany, which has almost 50:50 weight distribution, 3 pedals (manual, FTW!) and believes that everyone should spin at the last corner of Sepang circuit at least once in their life. He also holds the distinction in TCG as the person with the lightest right foot, of course, when compared with his colleagues' mutated cast iron right foot.
