BMW DTM 2015: Lausitzring


Lausitzring, Germany, 30th May, 2015 – Two BMW racing teams have managed to clinch the top 10 position in the recent DTM qualifying heats in EuroSpeedway Lausitz today. Three racers, all well-known names: Marco Wittmann (Germany, 1 minute 17.635 seconds), Maxime Martin (Belgium, 1 minute 17.729 seconds) and Tom Blomqvist (Britain, 1 minute 17.890 seconds), placed sixth, eighth and ninth respectively in the first heat. The second qualifying heat saw the Whitmann drop to 17th (1 minute 18.241 seconds) and Blomqvist to 12th (1 minute 18.088 seconds) while Martin moved up to fifth (1 minute 17.954 seconds).

Whitmann and Martin are currently racing for Team RMG, while Blomqvist is currently racing for Team RBM, both teams of which are official BMW factory teams. The pole-setter for Q1 is Miguel Molina (Spain, Abt Sportsline Audi) with a time of 1 minute 17.438 seconds, while Q2 saw Jamie Green (Britain, Rosberg Audi) take the lead with a time of 1 minute 17.386 seconds.

Green was patient in his attempt to overtake Molina, who was in pole position, to take the win at Lausitzring, his second win in the 2015 season. Jamie Green went on to win the 42-lap round with a total time of 42 minutes 15.135 seconds.

The next race will be at Norisring in Nuremberg, Germany. The three rounds after will be held outside of Germany: Zandvoort (Netherlands, July 10-12), Red Bull Ring (Spielberg, Austria, July 31-August 2), and Moscow Raceway (Russia, August 28-30).
