Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Debuts

Sant’Agata Bolognese, 13th March, 2015 – The race-going GT3 iteration of the Lamborghini Huracán has completed its first official testing at the Paul Ricard Circuit in Le Castellet, France today.

The Gallardo replacement, with its official Squadra Corse drivers: Fabio Babini, Jeroen Mul, Andrew Palmer, Adrian Zaugg, Mirko Bortolotti, and Giovanni Venturini (driving for the Grasser Racing Team), completed the two days of testing with an “impressive number of laps”. The GT3 Huracán was on the track with the rest of the GT3 cars in its official testing session.

These tests are in preparation of the first 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series season in Monza on the 11th and 12th of April, 2015.

The Huracán GT3 features a tweaked direct-injected 5.2-litre V10 engine first incorporated into the Gallardo, detuned to an estimated 500hp (per FIA’s GT3 regulations). A Bosch Motorsport control unit takes care of the precise bits, including engine management, gearshifts, traction control, and the TFT screen relaying crucial information in the cockpit. The six-speed sequential ‘box is coupled to a three-disc endurance racing clutch. With a aluminium-carbon chassis and fully-adjustable aero bits developed with legendary Italian chassis manufacturer Dallara Automobili, the GT3 is about as intimidating as it gets.
