Heavy downpour brings flash floods to KL

Flash floods in KL

Not a good day.

As the saying goes, “When it rains, it pours.” In the case of our unpredictable weather and questionable drainage system, when it pours, it floods. Downtown Kuala Lumpur was hit with flash floods this evening, just as KL-ites were about to leave the city for home.

Social media networks were flooded with photos of knee deep water and stranded vehicles as floods put the city at a standstill.

Particularly badly hit was traffic at Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang. Vehicles parked at a parking lot along Jalan Pinang were partially submerged following the heavy downpour.

Flash floods in KL

Perhaps it’s time to introduce amphibious vehicles.

Elsewhere, the town of Kajang, again, had to bear the wrath of unforgiving weather as flash floods inundated commercial and residential areas.

Kuala Lumpur is anticipated to have continued bad weather over the next few days. If you’re driving, take care and drive safe.

Did you get caught out today?
