Saturday, 15th September 2012 – The cultural and colourful state of Penang just got a little more vibrant with the arrival of its newest resident – Harley-Davidson! The brand has found yet another home-away-from-home in the form of an extensive new 3S showroom located in Juru Auto City. Harley-Davidson of Penang officially opened its doors today as the second showroom for this world renowned brand in Malaysia.

The showroom opening was officiated by Tuan Yang Terutama Dipertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, Tun Dato’ Seri Utama (Dr.) Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abbas. Present at the ceremony were Mr. Frank Albrecht, Director, Sales & Business Development Harley-Davidson Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, Dato’ SM Zulkifli SM Amin, Group Chief Operating Officer of NAZA Group of Companies, Mr. Zakaria Ismail, Director of Corporate Affairs of NAZA Group of Companies and Mr. Nik Danial Nik Mahmood, Vice President of NAZA Two Wheels Division, joined by more than 300 guests and Harley owners.

NAZA Prestige Bikes Sdn Bhd, the official dealer of Harley-Davidson Motorcycles in Malaysia, has invested RM2 million in the 8000sq. ft. showroom which is strategically located in Juru Auto-City amongst other big bike and car brands.

“Penang is the second largest market for big bikes, after Klang Valley, contributing more than 11% of the nation’s total big bike market. Taking Kedah and Northern Perak markets into consideration, the big bikes market of that region increases to 16% of total big bikes sold in Malaysia. With this flourishing market for big bikes, there is no greater time for NAZA to establish Harley-Davidson’s presence in Penang,” stated Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, Joint Group Executive Chairman of NAZA Group of Companies.

“In being closer to our customers in the North, we ensure that our dedication to providing premium services can be extended to every Harley owner and enthusiast. Our commitment to excellence in all our endeavors means that Harley customers in Northern Malaysia can rest assured that they will not be overlooked,” added Datuk Wira SM Faisal.

Harley-Davidson of Penang will cater to existing and future Harley-Davidson owners whilst also delighting Harley-Davidson enthusiasts in Penang, Kedah and Northern Perak.  The showroom will offer its customers more than just the newest and best-loved Harleys as it showcase the latest distinctive and striking Harley-Davidson fashion apparel and accessories. As a full-fledged 3S showroom, Harley-Davidson of Penang will also function as a service centre with four service bays supported by well-trained technicians and a consistent supply of spare parts.

In conjunction with the showroom’s official opening, Harley-Davidson introduced two new models: Fatboy Slim and Sportster 72 that were displayed alongside the CVO, Touring, Softail, Dyna, Sportster and V-Rod family of motorcycles. The motorcycles were unveiled by Mr. Frank Albrecht, Director of Sales and Business Development, Harley-Davidson Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., during ‘Harley-Davidson of Penang Nite’, a celebration which saw 3,000 Harley-Davidson guests and invited bikers from around the region indulging in tantalizing foods such as Nasi Dalca, BBQ lamb, grilled seafood and satay, whilst being entertained by a popular live band NRG, guitarist supremo Man Kidal and Malaysian celebrity Jehan Miskin as the emcee. In addition to the new bike models, guests were treated to a preview of Harley-Davidson’s Fall Collection 2012; a showcase of the brand’s latest merchandise.

About Jack Lee

Jack Lee is an unqualified petrol head (some say, to be one, you have to own an Alfa Romeo) who is disappointed with cars which are getting more and more electronics and the lack of interest in cars shown by today's youths in general. He owns an almost 20 year car from Germany, which has almost 50:50 weight distribution, 3 pedals (manual, FTW!) and believes that everyone should spin at the last corner of Sepang circuit at least once in their life. He also holds the distinction in TCG as the person with the lightest right foot, of course, when compared with his colleagues' mutated cast iron right foot.
