Honda Insight and Toyota Prius C Spec Comparison

2 most affordable hybrids in Malaysia

Although these 2 hybrids are from different market segments, consumers will naturally compare the two, given the price difference between them of only RM 5k. Andrew will be having the Insight media drive down to Malacca, but as much as he loathes hybrid cars, he will (against his, er, will) write an impression of the Insight. While waiting for the article to come, we run a side-by-side spec comparison between the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius C revealing some very interesting figures. Both Insight and Prius C sports the same width and wheelbase dimension. Click the jump for the spec list!

About Jack Lee

Jack Lee is an unqualified petrol head (some say, to be one, you have to own an Alfa Romeo) who is disappointed with cars which are getting more and more electronics and the lack of interest in cars shown by today's youths in general. He owns an almost 20 year car from Germany, which has almost 50:50 weight distribution, 3 pedals (manual, FTW!) and believes that everyone should spin at the last corner of Sepang circuit at least once in their life. He also holds the distinction in TCG as the person with the lightest right foot, of course, when compared with his colleagues' mutated cast iron right foot.

  • any mpg comparison?

Info is not available for Honda Malaysia website. However, when I check international website for similarly spec-ed car, Honda Insight returns about 64.2 mpg (or 4.4 litre / 100km) on combined cycle while Toyota Prius C returns about 94.1 mpg (or 2.5 litre / 100km). Now I would like to stress that these figures are quoted by manufacturers and the method which they used to test out the fuel consumption may not be similar.
