Purists are going to scoff at BMW making a MPV. A report in Germany’s Autobild magazine states that, a new i5 MPV will complete the i3 and i8 range of electric cars. Slated for launch in 2015, the i5 uses the same lightweight construction material as the other i siblings. Power comes from 125 kW electric motor at the rear, while the 65 kW 3 cylinder petrol motor at the front acts as the range extender. Fuel consumption is rated to be at 3 litres per 100 km.
