BMW M Diesel
BMW M division launched a new performance cars range, based on oil burners. The 4 models – M550d X-drive saloon, M550d X-drive touring, X5 M50d and X6 M50d will go on sale in Europe later this year. The oil burner is an all-new, 3.0 litre, 6 cylinder engine, consisting of not one, not two, but three turbochargers. Power output is 381 hp at 4,000 rpm while maximum torque is 740 Nm available from 2,000 rpm to 3,000 rpm. All models are equipped with an 8 speed automatic gearbox.
As the moniker X-Drive suggests, all models are equipped with intelligent all wheel drive system. The oil burners 0-100 times are quick – not more than 5.4 seconds for the X5 M50d. The M550d sedan are four tenths of a second slower than the M5, at 4.6 seconds and at the same time, returning on average 7.7 litres / 100km of fuel consumption.
By the way, you might have spotted some minor facelift on the X6 as well. Any chance of it making its way to Malaysia? Not until we have improved our diesel quality.
