The folks at Nissan have just added a new member to their vehicle line-up: The Livina X-Gear. Continuing the naming convention first seen on the X-Trail, the X-Gear’s styling cues are based on the Grand Livina, as is immediately obvious from the front facade of the vehicle. The X-Gear is based on the Grand Livina’s platform, from its proven HRDE16 1.6-litre engine to its 60:40 folding seats.
The X-Gear is a compact crossover, or a Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV), a derivative of a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The relative success of the X-Trail and more relevantly, the Grand Livina, has prompted Nissan to capitalise on the popularity of both current offerings to bolster Nissan’s lack of choices in this category. Nissan does offer the new Murano in Malaysia, which is a mid-sized SUV, but it is they are CBU units, as compared to the CKD units of the X-Gear.
The X-Gear retails for RM82,800.00, but if you hurry, you can get the free Solar Gard Armorcoat tint package valued at RM1,400.00 when you purchase the X-Gear before the 30th of October, 2011.

KUALA LUMPUR (6th September 2011) – Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd is adding a new member to current Livina range with the introduction of the all-new Nissan Livina X-Gear as the first CKD B segment cross-over in Malaysia.
The Livina X-Gear with its fun yet sporty exterior design is set to appeal to new customers who seek a unique proposition that combines aggressive SUV-inspired exterior styling with class-leading versatility and spaciousness.
“Since its launch in 2007, the Grand Livina MPV has established itself as the best-selling non-national MPV satisfying the needs of many families in Malaysia. Though it is mechanically based on the Grand Livina 1.6L, the attractive exterior styling is exclusive to the Livina X-Gear. This can be seen in the sophisticated yet aggressively presented front grille, SUV-inspired bumpers with silver sump guards, muscular over-fenders, side mouldings with silver finishers and roof rails.
Complementing the Livina X-Gear’s handsome exterior is a spacious yet comfortable interior accentuated by a “Tartan” fabric seat and door trim. Head and legroom are class-leading, complemented by 60:40 split-fold rear seats that double the available luggage space from 383L to 769L when folded down – ample space for grocery shopping or an out-of-town mountain bike trip. When required, the Livina X-Gear’s roof rail has a further load carrying capacity of 25kg.
Safety on the road is paramount and the all-new Nissan Livina X-Gear comes with standard dual air bags, ABS, EBD and BA. It is powered by the proven and fuel-efficient 1.6-litre HRDE16 all-aluminium four-cylinder engine that produces 105PS and 150Nm of torque, mated to a smooth-shifting electronically-controlled four-speed automatic transmission. The X-Gear also delivers a commendable 13.8KM/L in terms of fuel economy.
The all-new Nissan Livina X-Gear comes in five colours; Tungsten Silver, Twilight Grey, Brilliant White, Supreme Black and Sunburst Orange. On-the-road price (inclusive of insurance, road tax, registration fee and ownership claim fee) for Peninsular Malaysia is RM82,800.00 with a 3-year or 100,000 km warranty (whichever comes first).
