Hey yo!

As part of our dedication to bring you the action as much and as fast as possible, we’ll be experimenting on live blogging during the competition. The only problem is, live blogging seems to be extremely averse to some of the photographs that we post, so this is going to be more semi-live. Jack will be posting on this column, and he’ll constantly update the details as the competition progresses. If this particular method is successful, we’ll be doing the same thing for most of the more prominent events that we attend in the future.

Achilles Formula Drift Malaysia 2012: Tengku Djan Qualifies With Best Score in Top 32

Saturday, 19th May 2012 - Tomorrow’s nail-biting Round of 32 will see exciting head-to-head tandem driving between world-class riders in a knockout format to determine the champion for the title. Tengku Djan, who is making his comeback to the Achilles Asian Drift series, was in top form with Ah Fai who led the pack in qualifying, with an high scores of 94 and 90 respectively. Malaysian fans can also expect a feast of top-class drifting tomorrow with the current seeding setting up a potential mouth-watering semi-final clash between Djan and defending champion Daigo, who finished fourth in qualifying, while Ah Fai could face Japanese superstar Orido, in the quarter-finals.

Tuesday, 8th May, 2012 – A signing ceremony between Adventure Club KL (ACKL), Adventure Club Malaysia (ACM) and China’s Wenzhou Automobile & Motorsports Association was held today at The Royale Chulan. The ceremony finalizes the joint collaboration between the organizations from the two countries, culminating in Malaysia’s first motorsport and tourism-themed 4×4 Jamboree.

Friday, 11th May, 2012 – Sime Darby Auto Italia Sdn. Bhd. launched the Giulietta today at the Sime Darby AutoConnexion Centre along Jalan Ipoh today. The addition of the Giulietta will inject new life into the dwindling Alfa stable while they scramble to push the new Giulia, C-SUV and the 169 out (although Sime Darby AutoConnexion still have the discontinued 159, Brera, GT & Spider stock available).

Saturday, 12th May 2012 – The normally idyllic Jalan Telawi 3, along the side entrance of Bangsar Village 2, was replaced by the sight of supercars. As early as 9.30 am, the thunderous entrance of supercars to Bangsar Village 2 was for one reason – the unveiling of this year’s Super GT trophy, which signals also the official launching of Super GT 2012 Round 3 Malaysia. Hundreds were present to witness the momentous event, which includes media, car clubs members and  members of public.

We reported some time back in March, of the 918 Spyder on tarmac. And now, this is the finishing touch on the 918 Spyder prototype. Let’s start off with the price for this plug-in hybrid. Porsche is asking USD 845,000 of your hard earned money for the 500 horsepower machine. Which is generated by 4.0 litre V8 engine with 2 electric motors. And at the same time returning good fuel economy. The 918 Spyder will go into production at the end of September 2013 as planned, with the first customers receiving their vehicles before 2013 is out. “What we are doing with the 918 Spyder is redefining driving fun, efficiency and performance,” said Wolfgang Hatz, Member of the Executive Board Research and Development of Porsche AG.
